Proactive Styles And Other Alternatives And In Between Hair Care Products
Protective styles and alternatives are good when you want to take a break from your natural or relaxed hair! However, when wearing these styles such as quick weaves, sew-ins, crochet, wigs, etc., you must still take care of your own hair in between. Depending on which protective style you get and if maintained properly, these styles can last from 2-8 weeks. Normal install, includes a stocking cap, hair adhesive, and hair razor scissors. Your stylist will make sure your hair is clean and dry before placing the cap on your hair. Placing a cap on wet or damp hair can cause mold to develop on your scalp.
If a deep condition and or protein treatment is overdue, your stylist will take care of it before they install your quick weave. The cost to get a quick weave installed varies and is based on the style and not that expensive. If you want to cut costs, Google some YouTube videos and DIY, just make sure you know what you’re doing! Below are some Proactive styles to try, quick, simple, easy and versatile. Tara Hair is the type of weave to buy or the style to request. Tara hair is short pre-cut hair and usually comes in a container of 3 levels. It's a quick and simple process if you're going for the pixie look.

A Blunt Cut Bob is super edgy and it's even better as a quick weave bob. The great thing about a blunt quick weave bob is you can alternate the bluntness of the bob without manipulating your real hair.

Hair Type: Crotchet
Both crochets and weaves are ways of adding hair extensions to your own hair. The main difference between the two methods lies in how the extensions are added. With the crochet method, loose hair is hooked onto a crochet needle, pulled under a cornrow, then knotted to keep it in place. The crochet method is usually done with loose synthetic hair which is pretty inexpensive. The best thing about crochets, they’re more DIY friendly. If you know how to cornrow, all you have to do is loop the loose synthetic hair through your cornrows and pull it through and then repeat. My daughter tried this method and like the model below, it came out absolutely fantabulous!

So many options, right? Last but not least wigs. Check out my custom-made wig by Crystal. I love the way wigs can give you different looks. I went from day to night in 2 days. The first pix was taken a day after my sister's wedding and the last one was taken the night of the wedding. What an amazing transformation! Wigs are not for everyone so if you want a new look and wig shops are not your cup of tea, then find a wig ologist in your area. Have them custom make one that compliments the shape of your head and beautiful face.
Just know that it's not the cheapest alternative. However, I can tell you this; it's worth every penny because it lasts longer and can be washed, curled, or straightened depending on the type of hair and how many times you wear it. Mine, I've only worn it 3 times on special occasions and I've maintained it for a couple of years now. Honestly, I have 6 wigs including my one custom wig. LOL! Hey, you only live once right? I am bold, unafraid, and fabulous! I'm over 50 and I have Androgenic Alopecia which is sudden hair loss due to hormonal changes. Although it's in other areas, it's mostly on the crown of my head. This condition in some cases, can not be cured but it's treatable. It's been a very slow and long process for me. In the areas where I lost my hair, it may never fully grow back. Eyebrows and all! Argh! On top of that about a few years ago, I had surgery on my head to remove a huge lump.

Anyone who knows me, knows I've always been very self-conscious of my hair\head. I was teased and bullied as a child. I use to cry a lot because kids can be so cruel, adults too. With that insecurity, I developed a complex so I always wore a bang. I've rocked a bang forever. Then came the grey hair!! It started in my 20's. Needless to say, I resorted to using hair dyes. I was so over it, so last year I said enough and I shaved it off. It was a very hard decision for me. I was so depressed and uncertain of the reaction I would receive. With that being said, I want to thank my family and friends who would tell me all the time that I'm beautiful, who supports and encourages me. Thank you!
